Community Legal Clinics
Legal advice and representation is available through 79 independent community legal clinics to clients who have problems such as housing, social assistance, pensions, workers' compensation, and employment insurance.

Not all communities that have Ontario Legal Aid offices have Legal Clinics. I have tried to link those communities to the closest community providing Legal Clinic services.

There are two main groups of Low Cost Housing available in Ontario. Co-Op Housing and Social (Geared to Income / Non-Profit) Housing.

A Housing Co-Operative is a legal association formed for the purpose of providing homes to its members on a continuing basis. A co-op is different from other housing associations in its ownership structure and its commitment to co-operative principles.

Non-profit housing in Ontario is divided into 3 catagories:
• Private non-profits are owned and managed by independent, community-based groups, such as faith groups, service clubs, ethnic organizations and community agencies.
• Municipal non-profits are owned and operated by over 100 different municipalities across Ontario.
• Local Housing Corporations are owned and managed by 47 service managers - the local government body responsible for housing, social welfare and ambulance services. Until 2001, Local Housing Corporations were owned by the provincial government and called "public housing."
